Who we are
Venant Solutions was founded in 2013 by Dr Mark Jempson with the aim of providing high quality specialist flood and stormwater advice to both the private and public sectors. Mark has over thirty years of industry experience in hydrological, hydraulic, and multidisciplinary environmental investigations.
Since the company’s founding, Venant Solutions has prospered and continues to grow thanks to the trust developed with clients and authorities and our ability to deliver high quality innovative solutions to solve clients’ problems. This is demonstrated by our on-going successes in the market, including being involved in, and delivering high profile projects throughout Victoria, and across Australia.
Venant Solutions takes pride in the quality of our deliverables, and maintains a fully certified third party accreditation of our quality systems to meet ISO-9001:2015 Quality Systems. Such is the quality of our work that we are frequently engaged to review, and provide advice and recommendations in a peer review capacity for government agencies, and the private sector. In 2023 we achieved the ISO 14001 Environmental accreditation, an environmental management system for enhancing our environmental performance. We also gained the ISO 45001 OHS accreditation, which sets a global standard for a reduction of occupational injuries, and promoting and protecting the physical and mental health of our staff, partners and clients.

Venant Solutions offers clients experienced project managers and flood modellers who are specialists in surface water management, including detailed hydrology and hydraulic flood studies. Our staff all have excellent written communication skills and are trained to be clear verbal communicators of technical content to non-technical audiences. As such, they work effectively with a variety of stakeholders including other professional practitioners and non-technical audience.
The recent revisions of Australian Rainfall and Runoff has highlighted the importance of accounting for natural variability in flood estimation. Our team has undertaken a large number of studies applying ARR2016 and the new updated ARR2019 guidance that have resulted in robust and defensible hydrologic inputs in our work. All staff have extensive experience in the application of hydrologic estimation including future climate conditions.
As a specialist flood consultancy, our team have extensive experience developing and calibrating hydraulic models, flood damage assessments, assessing broad areas of flood risk, floodplain management, and emergency management. To undertake these assessments Venant Solutions maintains a computing pool with multiple licences of all the major hydraulic software packages used within Australia, including TUFLOW HPC and the MIKE suite by DHI.
Venant Solutions’ company director, Dr Mark Jempson, is available on all projects to provide oversight, and review to ensure a quality product is delivered first time, every time. Mark is highly regarded in the industry, and as such is regularly called upon by government agencies in a peer review role. He is also in demand for his expert input into studies interstate.
